California dreamin'?

Anyone taken a look at California lately? Here’s an eye-opening report in the
Wall Street Journal.

Unemployment at 9.3 percent, expected to grow to 11 percent soon, and a state budget deficit of $42 billion, with politicians who have no idea how to fix it.
It makes Utah’s problems look insignificant.
But it does raise an important question. President Obama wants to give bailout money to states. With Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, you can bet your last nugget that the Golden State will get a good deal of that cash.
So, is it right that the people of Utah should pay taxes that eventually go to bail out California, not to mention other states that have gotten into trouble? Doesn’t this reward poor public management? Doesn’t it just postpone the day of reckoning? After all, Utah balances its budget. That will happen this year, too, even though it may be painful, and you may disagree with how it’s done.
